The Surfing Village is a unique'back to the roots' surfing experience based in a wave-rich Telos area between Nias and the Mentawais. This trip is perfect for those wanting that special combination of uncrowded quality waves, adventure, remoteness and community, along with a level of comfort needed to surf at your best.
There's about a dozen waves within a 20 minute boat trip covering most swell and wind conditions including 3 rights along the point right in front of the accommodation. Access to these is included in the package. There's another 3 waves a little more than an hour away.
The extensive range of waves in this area provides something for everyone, ranging from heavy, fast and hollow pits to mellow peaks with very long to quite short waves and everything in between, including beach breaks. This package is more suited to the intermediate to advanced surfer, but there are waves for beginners as well.
Your hosts Mario and Paulo will ensure you get to the best waves, given conditions and you wave preference. Professional photos and video of your trip are also available at extra cost.

ITINERARY |
Day 1 |
Arrive in Padang (before 1600), met at the airport by your English speaking guide and transfer to hotel or restaurant until departure to Surfing Village at approximately 6pm. The crossing is by private charter boat, arriving at your destination in time for a breakfast surf. |
Day 2 + |
Arrive early-mid morning at Surfing Village. This is a change-over day where the previous group packs up ready to depart mid-afternoon. You will receive an important 'induction' session to learn the in's and out's of SV.
Then after unpacking you are right to surf the fantastic waves, enjoy the beautiful area and services of the Surfing Village. The vibe is very cruisy and there is no need to rush into anything, not even the surf. Much of the time you will be surfing by yourselves.
Apart from surfing, other activities include jungle treks, snorkeling, fishing, treks through the local villages as well as billiards, darts and other games. See below for more...

Mid afternoon, after surf and goodbyes, board the charter boat for your return crossing to Padang. |
Final Day |
Arriving after sunrise, you are picked up at the harbour and transferred to Padang airport or hotel for your next connection (must be after 1400).

Your Hosts |
Surfing Village was set up in 2006 by Brazilians Mario and Paulo. After years of traveling and surfing they met in Padang and teamed up to make their dream come true. |
Accommodation |
Your accommodation is built with local wood and materials to suit the local climate and consists of one main building and 4 bungalows.
The 'headquarters' main building is where our guests spend most of their “dry” time. With eco-friendly construction, it has three floors, plus the ground area. The ground area is home to our 9 x 9 foot billiard table, where we hold our very competitive pool championships.
The first floor (14 x 14 meters) is the dining and bar area where guests spend most of their non-surfing time eating, drinking and socialising, reading, playing games, or just relaxing in the hammock area, completely surrounded by our potent audio system, equipped with extensive music collection, or connecting straight ipod’s etc.
The second floor has 10 x 10 meter open space, for your yoga, stretching, relaxing, etc.... The third floor is our TV room. With a spectacular 360 degree view of the waves and surroundings, this is where you relax after lunch, watch a movie or a surf video, all the while keeping one eye on the pumping surf. After dinner this is where we have the famous daily slide shows, screening all the photos of the day from our professional photographer. As well as a wide collection of movies and surf videos, we also have satellite TV with channels such as: CNN, HBO 1, 2 and 3, Cinemax, Discovery, National Geographic, ESPN, MTV, Fashion TV etc.
The bungalows are two floors high, the first floor is the board room and hang out area, outside deck and two private bedrooms with King size beds, that comfortably house two couples. Equipped with white cotton sheets, special mosquito nets, individual fans and bamboo blinds for extra privacy. The second floor is an open loft with a 360 degree view, housing one King size bed, with cotton sheets and special mosquito net situated beneath a large ceiling fan. All four bungalows have a private, western style outside toilet with a flush system and a separate bathroom with running tap water as well as a hot and cold water shower. |
Meals |
The package includes 3 substantial meals per day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) to recharge your energy needed for a good day of surfing. The menu includes local and western dishes, ranging from pizza to nasi goreng, all prepared by our international chef with the best quality produce and highest hygiene standards. Water, tea and coffee are included.
For the munchies, the restaurant also has an a la carte menu, that can be ordered at any time of the day.
And for the thirsty, you can’t go past the bar! Icy cold Bintangs, soft drinks and natural juices are available along with a selection of alcoholic beverages to celebrate that memorable surf session! (extra charges apply, as a guide large Bintangs are US$6 per bottle)
