The Wave Palace (Istana Ombak) is a unique beach-side eco resort in central East Java available for couples, group or family holidays. Istana Ombak provides for your every need with idyllic scenery, fantastic local food and extremely comfortable accommodation.
Treat yourself with a relaxing holiday to a place with unparalleled natural beauty and great surf.
The most consistent and best waves in the area are right outside your door, with a left and a right reef break situated on either side of the tiny bay, right in front of the resort. Both these waves will suit most surfers when small, over 4-5ft they are more suited to intermediate to advanced surfers. In the 6-8ft region the left becomes a warping beast. These waves will definitely hone yoru tube riding skills, and are perfect for surfers wanting to challenge themselves.
About 40 minutes away is a large bay with a left hand river mouth setup and beach breaks on the right conditions. The river mouth holds all swells and is a nice relaxing, fun wave. There are many other waves in the area that work on certain conditions, particularly the off-season.

ITINERARY |
Day 1 |
Arrive in Yogyakarta between 10am-4pm. Pickup at airport and transfer to the Wave Palace, about 3 hours drive by air-conditioned car. |
Day 2 + |
From here, you are free to enjoy the beautiful area and services of Istana Ombak Resort. You will surf in front most of the time and included in the package is a trip to the nearby town and river mouth setup.
Apart from surfing, other activities included in your package are a trip to the local caves (world class) and a river cruise, exploring the lush nearby jungle.
Depending on conditions, fishing trips (by boat) and trips to breaks further away can be arranged at the resort additional cost.

Final Day |
After a morning surf your are transferred back to Yogyakarta airport for flight out departing between 10am and 4pm.

ABOUT ISTANA OMBAK RESORT |
Your Hosts |
Istana Ombak Resort was designed and created by Aussie surfer, Rod Steeles. Rod has been coming to Indonesia since the mid 80's, hiring dive boats to trek to spots like Desert Point and G-Land with his mates. As the waves got more crowded he started hitting the Mentawais and Telo Islands. As the Mentawais turned became busier he moved again and in his travels stumbled across this quiet malaria-free, wave -rich region.
Rod has about eight full time staff working at the resort to ensure all your needs are met. He actively supports the local community and is very well respected in the area.

This resort is unique in it's design and style, providing extremely high levels of comfort that blend perfectly with the simplicity and beauty of the local environment. All materials have been locally supplied and expert local craftsmen used to create this beautiful residence.
There are 2 twin/double share rooms and 3 triple share rooms. All rooms are very spacious rooms, have separate en suites and verandas.
Daily room service is provided.
There is a large dining and bar area giving you unobstructed views to the stunning bay and waves right in front. |
