Batu Besar Losmen
West Java
Back-packer style accommodation designed
for surfers and travelers .
|
|
|
|
Batu Besar Losmen is located in the tiny village
of Batu Namprak, just north of Ujung Genteng, a small
harbour town in West Java. It's at the 'end of the
road', bound only by rice fields and the beach, a
perfect place to observe and absorb the soothing rhythms
of a traditional lifestyle based on working the land
and sea for survival.
The losmen is set in shady, tranquil surrounds a
couple of minutes walk from the beach, home of a 'Turtles',
an amazingly consistent left hand reef break. The
large windows and wide verandas capture the southeast
trades that blow across the peninsular.
The staff are local Indonesians, who have a reasonable
command of English and are committed to looking after
their guests. The place has a tranquil, laid back
atmosphere, which is reflected in the how the place
is surfed - with a spirit of equality, consideration
and sharing. There is no TV or DVD player! Just friendly
staff, and guests form all parts of the world. So
if you are not interested in learning how others live,
sharing stories or just relaxing with nature, this
place is not for you.
The losmen was opened in 1999 by a syndicate of
5 Australian east coast surfers, known as the 'Big
Rock 5'. It is registered with all the required local
Indonesian authorities.
